Steve Evans is confident he will have added further to his Leeds United squad by the time the Whites come off the pitch against Sheffield Wednesday next weekend.

Leeds are working hard to make signings this month and have already extended the loan of Liam Bridcutt from Sunderland while securing the loan of winger Mustapha Carayol from Middlesbrough.

But Evans has his eye on making further additions as he seeks to bolster the squad in pursuit of a playoff place and has been linked with a number of players, including Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic, Aston Villa winger Jack Grealish, Norwich City forward Kyle Lafferty and Stoke City hitman Peter Crouch.

Leeds play Ipswich tomorrow night and then travel to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday – and Evans is confident deals will be done soon after the game with the Owls has finished.

He said on LUTV: "For me the important thing is when we leave Hillsborough next Saturday that we're within the same margin of the playoffs as we are today.

"It would be fantastic to be down to six points and less, but we live in a real world and we said if we're still in that margin gap of no further, then we've got a couple of home games to come.

"And I have no doubt by the time Sheffield Wednesday comes or by the time we come out of Sheffield Wednesday we'll have strengthened the group.

"That's important at this stage of the season", the Scot, whose side are nine points off a playoff spot, added.
