Leeds United had to beat West Ham United to the signatures of teenage twins Jack and Paul McKay from Doncaster Rovers.

The duo, both aged 19 years old, will initially play for Leeds Under-21s while training with the first team after putting pen to paper on two-and-a-half-year deals with the club for undisclosed fees.

West Ham, who are currently sixth in the Premier League with 32 points from 20 games, were also interested in roping in the youngsters and even put forward a bid.

But the Whites trumped the Hammers to the signing of the McKay brothers, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, by matching the London outfit’s offer.

Jack, who plays as a striker, made four appearances for Doncaster since making his professional debut against Sheffield United in the 2014/15 campaign.

On the other hand, centre-back Paul made just a solitary appearance for Rovers, playing against Burton Albion last term.

Both are products of the League One club’s youth system and are sons of agent Willie McKay.
