Newcastle United could make another move for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette this month, as they look to ramp up the pressure to get their man, according to French outlet Buzz Sport.

The Magpies reportedly tabled a bid of around €25m last week for the striker, but Lyon rejected the offer and the player was unwilling to move to the north east of England.

However, the Magpies are not expected to give up the fight so soon and it has been claimed that they could make a fresh offer for the France international this month, as they look to bring in a proven goalscorer.

And Newcastle could receive further encouragement from the suggestion that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas' resolve could be tempted if a club offer a fee of around €30m for Lacazette.

Lyon are unwilling to part ways with the 24-year-old in the middle of the season, but the club hierarchy could be forced to sell if they receive an offer north of the €30m mark for the forward.

And even Lacazette might accept a move away from Lyon if the club decide to cash in, despite his reservations about leaving the Stade de Gerland during the January transfer window.

Steve McClaren wants to add more goals to his current Newcastle side and it remains to be seen whether he manages to convince the board to offer more than €30m for Lacazette, who has also been previously linked with a move to Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has scored nine goals in 23 appearances this term and has a contract until 2019 with the club.
