Atletico Madrid are keen to raise the release clause in Antoine Griezmann’s contract amidst interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea.

The French forward has been in pristine form for the Spanish league leaders this season, with 14 goals in all competitions and has further added to his growing reputation as one of the best attackers in Europe.

The former Real Sociedad man has been attracting interest from Chelsea since last summer, but it is Real Madrid’s admiration which is making the Atletico Madrid hierarchy wary about their star’s future at the club.

Griezmann’s current contract with the club runs until 2020 and contains a release clause of €80m, but Atletico Madrid are plotting to raise that figure to stave off interest from their city rivals.

According to Spanish daily AS, the club are ready to offer him a pay rise and insert a new release clause worth €100m, which they feel is high enough to kill off Real Madrid’s interest in signing him.

However, Los Blancos are not the only ones along with Chelsea who are glancing towards Griezmann as European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also interested in snaring the Frenchman away from Atletico Madrid next summer.

The 24-year-old joined Los Colchoneros in 2014 from Real Sociedad and has already notched up 39 goals in 78 appearances for the club.
