Lille head coach Frederic Antonetti has confirmed that the club are interested in signing out-of-favour Newcastle United winger Yoan Gouffran.

The Frenchman has been little but a fringe player under Steve McClaren this season for Newcastle United and has made just five league apperances.

With a grand total of five Premier League minutes under his belt this term, Gouffran is said to be keen to leave the club this winter and Lille are interested in taking him back to France.

And Antonetti revealed that though the Frenchman is no longer playing as a striker, he is one of those players the club might be keen to sign during the January transfer window.

The Lille head coach was quoted as saying by L’Equipe: “Though he no longer plays as a forward, he is one of the players that may interest us [this month].”

Newcastle United are also said to be keen to offload the winger this month and won’t stand in his way if he can find a new club but Lille are expected to face hurdles when it comes to his wage demands.

Gouffran joined Newcastle United in January 2013 and has made 93 appearances for the club thus far.
