Mathieu Debuchy admits he is desperate to quit Arsenal in the current transfer window as he seeks regular first team football.

The Frenchman has lost his right-back slot at the Emirates Stadium to Hector Bellerin and was pondering leaving the club last summer before Arsene Wenger talked him into staying.

But Debuchy's position has not changed and now the right-back is worrying about his lack of playing time with Euro 2016 in his homeland looming large on the horizon.

Now Debuchy has no doubt that he must leave Arsenal and that too in the current transfer window.

Speaking to French sports daily L'Equipe, Debuchy said: "I need to leave this winter. I can't stay at Arsenal.

"I have to play in order to try and return in March for Netherlands v France and Russia v France", he added, with an eye on Les Bleus' next two fixtures.

Debuchy has been attracting interest from Bayer Leverkusen, as well as the Premier League's bottom club Aston Villa – and he will not rule out a move to Villa Park despite the side's current predicament, explaining he has already spoken with Remi Garde on the phone.

The right-back continued: "This [Aston Villa] is not something I rule out. I have spoken to the coach on the phone."

It remains to be seen where Debuchy will be by the time the transfer window closes, but it appears unlikely to be Arsenal.
