Rangers midfielder Nicky Law believes that the competition for places is very high at the Ibrox outfit, but is delighted to have worked his way back into the first team.

The midfielder is into the last six months of his contract with the Gers and has impressed since returning from a knee injury, which had kept him on the sidelines for close to nine weeks.

The 27-year-old's return to first team action has coincided with an upturn in the Gers’ form, with Mark Warburton’s side recording comprehensive wins over their last four opponents in all competitions.

The English midfielder feels that the competition for places at Ibrox is high and cited the example of Dean Shiels and Arsenal loanee Gedion Zelalem, who have impressed so far this season, but are struggling for first team opportunities at the moment.

The midfielder is pleased with his contribution over the last few games and feels that he needs to continue to be at the top of his game to retain his spot.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, Law said: “I felt I was doing well, but then I got injured against Livingston in the cup which was disappointing as it kept me out for nine or 10 weeks.

"But I’ve managed to work my way back into the team, and now it’s up to me to stay there.

“The competition is high and there are many good players who can play that position – the likes of Gedion Zelalem and Dean Shiels who are desperate to play but aren’t at the minute.

“But you know you need to keep on the top of your game to keep your place, but I’ve been pleased with my input in the last few games, but more importantly the team is playing well, we’re scoring goals again and playing some really good stuff.”

Warburton’s men have managed to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Championship over the weekend, as the Gers demolished Livingston to secure a 4-1 win, while title challengers Falkirk and Hibernian, both dropped points.
