Rangers Under-20s midfielder Max Ashmore has spoken about the benefits his young team-mates have reaped as a result of their two-week training camp in Valencia.

Manager Ian Durrant and his youth team were away in Spain to make full use of their break after their match against Motherwell on 5th January was cancelled.

According to the youngster it was a completely different kind of environment from that they are used to at Murray Park.

It was even more helpful because it helped the players improve their bonding with top class training and recovery sessions.

And now as the young Gers prepare themselves for a busy schedule ahead with a total of 19 league games to be played before the end of the season, Ashmore insists that the experience they have had over the last two weeks will help them gel and get the best out of them.

“It was a really good experience for all the boys being in a different environment and a different culture from Murray Park", Ashmore told his club's official website.

“Being together for two weeks helped us to bond more, and the training facilities and hotel we had access to were top class, so hopefully that will benefit us for the rest of the season.

“Even just being in a different place and seeing other teams train has helped us. It was great to live like that for two weeks eating all the proper foods and going through the right training and recovery sessions.

“We have all come together. Before there was a bit of a split between the older ones and younger ones, but now we’ve all come together and gelled as a group as a whole, and I think that will be really important for the rest of the season.”
