Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has explained that he does not want to put himself under undue pressure by thinking of a possible England call-up.

The 25-year-old, who has been in great form since moving to the Scottish giants from Swindon Town in the summer, has thus far made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Gers, keeping 13 clean sheets.

With Foderingham standing between the sticks, Rangers have conceded just 16 goals in 20 league games in the present campaign, the joint lowest in the division.

Mark Warburton was so impressed with Foderingham that the manager insisted earlier in the season that the custodian could earn an England call due to his inspired performances.

But Foderingham, who stated that he is unwilling to put himself under needless pressure by mulling over an England call-up, is keen to keep continuing to working hard.

“To be honest, I am keen to stay away from that question, I don’t want to put any unnecessary pressure on myself”, he replied at a press conference, when asked if he was in the right place to make an impression on England boss Roy Hodgson.

“So, I’ll just work hard and do what I can and hopefully we’ll see how far that takes me.”

Foderingham, who counts Bromley and Boreham Wood amongst his former employers, represented England until Under-19 level.
