Chelsea are lining up a summer move for Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain centre-half Thiago Silva, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

The 31-year-old defender is regarded as one of the best in the world and has been a lynchpin for PSG since joining the club from AC Milan in 2012 for a transfer fee of €42m.

However, Chelsea are plotting to snare him away from PSG next summer and are already laying down the foundations of the deal by approaching the player’s representatives directly.

It has been suggested that the Premier League champions have already contacted the player’s representatives and have enquired about the possibility of taking the Brazilian to west London before the start of next season.

The Blues have also asked about the transfer fee that might convince PSG to sell their captain next summer and are trying to gauge the player’s mood over a move to Chelsea.
