Manchester United have confirmed that goalkeeper Victor Valdes has completed a loan move to Belgian outfit Standard Liege.

Valdes has been frozen out of the first team picture at Old Trafford and joins Standard Liege until the end of the season.

The goalkeeper joined Manchester United on a free transfer in January 2015 and made two appearances for the club last season.

He fell out with Louis van Gaal last summer though and was left off the club's tour of the United States.

Valdes was expected to leave the club last summer, but a late move to Besiktas fell through at the last minute, leaving him stranded at the Red Devils.

Now he is heading to Belgium and links up with Standard Liege, who currently sit seventh in the Jupiler Pro League.

Valdes will aim to enjoy regular first team football in Belgium and then leave Manchester United in the summer.
