Hamilton have insisted that they have no intention of hosting the Scottish Cup match between East Kilbride and Celtic at New Douglas Park.

East Kilbride's ground is not suitable to host the cup encounter and it had been suggested the game could instead take place at New Douglas Park, Hamilton's home ground.

But Hamilton have issued a statement making it clear they will not be playing host to the fifth round Scottish Cup tie and claim they are unwilling to change their current schedule.

In a statement released on their official website, Hamilton said: "It has recently been reported that we will be hosting the William Hill Scottish Cup 5th round fixture between East Kilbride and Celtic on Sunday 7th February.

"We have a full programme of Academy, Youth and Community events already planned for that weekend and have no intention of altering our club programme and as a result will not be in a position to make New Douglas Park available to stage the tie", the statement concluded.

The Scottish FA had announced that the game would take place at New Douglas Park, but the authorities will now be forced to look for an alternative venue for the tie.

The Scottish Cup tie against Celtic is the biggest game in East Kilbride's history, but the club's K-Park home is not suitable to host the encounter.

It remains to be seen where the tie between Celtic and East Kilbride will now be played.
