Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger feels his side were forced to dig deep to grind out a 2-1 win at home over Burnley in the FA Cup this afternoon.

Wenger saw his men quickly take control of the game at the Emirates Stadium and they took the lead through a good finish from Calum Chambers in the 19th minute.

Chambers curled the ball in from around 19 yards out, using the outside of his foot.

But Burnley were not behind for long and equalised in the 30th minute when a cross from Tendayi Darikwa was headed past David Ospina by Sam Vokes.

Arsenal went in front again in the 53rd minute through Alexis Sanchez, who was making his first start since November.

The forward got on the end of an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to make no mistake with his finish and ultimately win the game for Arsenal.

For Wenger, his men had to work hard and the Frenchman lauded Burnley, a side he rates highly.

He told the BBC: "When I saw them on Monday night against Derby I thought this is a good team and I was not disappointed today, they had quality.

"In the first 20 minutes we looked quite in control and then they equalised, suddenly you could see energy, efficiency, commitment and we had to dig deep to win the game.

"In the end I think it's a deserved win, but they are a good side", Wenger added.
