Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has opened the door for Denis Cheryshev to leave the club on loan, amid speculation Liverpool are trying to do a late deal for the 25-year-old.

Cheryshev has found it difficult to secure minutes on the pitch for Los Blancos this term, a complete change from his situation last term when he featured regularly for Villarreal on loan.

Zidane is sympathetic towards Cheryshev's situation at the Bernabeu and is happy for him to leave the club if it means he secures first team football, words which will be music to Liverpool's ears.

"He can leave", Zidane was quoted as saying by Spanish daily Marca.

"The important thing for him is to have minutes", the Frenchman continued.

"He is a great player. He is a guy that works well and needs time.

"I wish him the best and if he can go out and play, I'd be happy."

It remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool can stitch up a switch for Cheryshev before the winter transfer window slams shut, with the hours ticking down to its closure.

This season the winger has made just six appearances in all competitions, amassing just 117 minutes of game time.
