Leicester City linked Nigel de Jong is close to signing for LA Galaxy after the AC Milan defensive midfielder confirmed that he is in talks with the MLS outfit over a possible transfer.

The 31-year-old, who snubbed reported interest from Manchester United to sign a contract extension in the summer, is surplus to requirements for Rossoneri boss Sinisa Mihajlovic, as the Dutchman managing to clock up just 461 minutes over six games in all competitions in the present campaign.

As a result, the Dutchman has been linked with a move away from the San Siro in January, with Leicester City, Schalke and Werder Bremen all interested in him.

However, it seems LA Galaxy have surged ahead in the race to land De Jong, who himself confirmed the development.

“That’s true. I am talking to LA Galaxy over a possible transfer there”, he told Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.
