Italian Serie B club Novara have made their interest in Leeds United forward Mirco Antenucci public and are looking to sign him on deadline day.

Antenucci wants to leave the Elland Road outfit on deadline day, but the club remain reluctant to lose the player, despite his contract being due to expire at the end of the season.

The forward has generated interest from clubs in Italy and third tier club Foggia were keen to sign the player today, but Antenucci reportedly knocked back their offer earlier today.

However, he still has Ascoli and Ternana pushing to take him to Italy in the last few hours of the day and it seems another Serie B outfit in the form of Novara have joined the chase for the Leeds forward.

Club president Massimo De Salvo revealed that Novara are looking at options to sign Antenucci in the coming hours of the winter transfer window.

The Novara president told Sportitalia: “Antenucci is an important player, but until a few days ago there were no conditions [for a deal].

“Let see if in the coming hours there will be.”

Leeds are still keen to hold on to the player, but with Souleymane Doukara and Chris Wood ahead of him in the pecking order, Antenucci remains desperate to move back to Italy.
