Marseille are keen to snap up Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher on a loan deal, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

The Scotland international, whose present deal with the Black Cats is set to expire in the summer, has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four times.

However, Fletcher has fallen down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light in recent weeks, with the 28-year-old not featuring in Sunderland’s last five Premier League games.

On the other hand, Marseille were looking to bring in a striker to support Michy Batshuayi, and the French outfit shortlisted Fletcher and Stoke forward Peter Odemwingie.

But it seems Fletcher is likelier to head to Marseille after the Scot gave his nod to the move; although the clubs are still discussing the wage structure of the striker for the upcoming five months.
