Steven Fletcher has agreed to join Marseille, with the French side now trying to reach an agreement with Sunderland, according to French radio station RMC.

The striker has fallen out of favour at the Stadium of Light and Marseille want to add Fletcher to their ranks before the winter transfer window closes later today.

And Fletcher is happy to move to the French giants, having already given his nod to the switch.

Marseille are now in talks with Sunderland to thrash out the details of the move as they look to get the deal done before the window shuts.

The 28-year-old, who is under contract with Sunderland until the summer, has made 18 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats this season, scoring four goals.

However, he has not featured in Sunderland's last five Premier League games, something which points clearly to boss Sam Allardyce preferring other options.

In total Fletcher has made 108 appearances for Sunderland, hitting the back of the net on 23 occasions and contributing eight assists.
