Andros Townsend is ready to battle his former Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Alex Pritchard when Newcastle United take on West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

While Townsend joined the Magpies from Spurs on a five-and-a-half-year deal last week, Pritchard was scooped up on a loan deal until the end of the season by the Baggies on deadline day.

And with Newcastle set to host West Brom at the weekend, Townsend is relishing the prospect of coming up against his former team-mate at St James’ Park.

He tweeted: “Congrats on the move Pritchard see you Saturday!”

Pritchard, whose current deal with Tottenham runs until 2019, has made just one senior appearance in the current campaign when he came on as a late substitute in the goalless draw against Everton in August.

Townsend too was sparingly used by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, with the England international clocking up just 297 minutes over seven appearances in all competitions this season.

Before Saturday’s meeting on Tyneside, Newcastle will face Everton tomorrow, while West Brom take on Swansea today.
