Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech believes a side need 86 or 87 points to win the title and insists that the Gunners will need to play catch up before the end of the season.

The Gunners failed to score for the third consecutive league game in last night’s 0-0 draw against Southampton at home.

Arsene Wenger’s side have dropped down to fourth position in the league table, and now find themselves five points behind leaders Leicester City.

The north London outfit have amassed 45 points from 24 league games this season, and according to the former Chelsea shot-stopper will need to win all of their remaining games to finish with 87 points.

The Czech Republic international believes that it does not matter the manner in which a team gets the points, but it is essential to keep picking up the points.

Cech said via his club's site: “You need to look at the end and you need 86/87 points to be sure and it does not matter which way you go to get those points.

“It does not matter if you have to catch up at the end of the season, which is what we have to do.

“Every time you lose points you need to keep believing.”

The Gunners travel to Dean Court to take on promoted side Bournemouth on Sunday before hosting leaders Leicester City at home on 14th February.
