Celtic could not agree a fee with Norwegian side Start for midfield talent Kristoffer Ajer before the winter transfer window slammed shut, but are expected to continue to negotiate to snap up the youngster in the summer.

Ajer spent time on trial at Celtic recently and made a big impression on Bhoys manager Ronny Deila, who is desperate to take him to Paradise.

But Start will not easily part with their crown jewel and rejected an offer from fellow Norwegian side Molde before Celtic came to the table.

Celtic though could not agree a fee with Start either for Ajer before the window closed, according to Norwegian daily FVN.

Start want around £800,000 for Ajer and it remains to be seen whether Celtic will reach an agreement with the Norwegian outfit, but talks are poised to continue between the two clubs.
