Chinese Super League outfit Guangzhou Evergrande have announced the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez for £31m, breaking the Asian transfer record.

The Colombian striker has penned a four-year deal with the Tianhe Stadium outfit and the transfer has eclipsed the £25m paid by Jiangsu Suning for Chelsea midfielder Ramires last week.

The 29-year-old signed for Los Rojiblancos in the summer of 2015 for €35m from Portuguese giants FC Porto, where he scored 92 goals in 132 appearances.

Martinez only managed to score three goals in 22 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side, while also picking up two assists.

Martinez has also been a regular for the Colombian national team and has scored 10 goals in 39 appearances.
