Former Celtic assistant manager Billy Stark believes that the return of club captain Scott Brown will be a massive boost for the Bhoys.

The 30-year-old midfielder has been sidelined since November due to a knee injury, but could make a return to the first team for tonight’s away clash against title challengers Aberdeen.

Brown suffered damage to his knee ligaments in the goalless draw against Kilmarnock on 21st November 2015.

The Scotland international has managed 21 appearances for Ronny Deila’s side this season, scoring one goal.

Stark, who was the assistant manager of Celtic between 1994 and 1997, feels that the return of Brown will be a significant boost for the Bhoys.

The 59-year-old believes that the midfielder is a driving force in Deila’s side and the manager will want to introduce him against Aberdeen.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Scotland, Stark said: "Scott Brown coming back can be very significant.

"He is a leader for them and a driving force in the middle of the pitch and that's the kind of thing they would like to introduce at Pittodrie I am sure.”

The Bhoys will be without the services of Jozo Simunovic for tonight’s clash, with the centre-back sidelined for close to six weeks with knee ligament damage.

Deila’s side sit six points clear of tonight’s opponents Aberdeen, and will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.
