Antonio Floro Flores' agent has confirmed that Leeds United were a possibility on transfer deadline day, but insists his client was keen to remain in Italy, as he explained the reason for his client signing for another Serie A side and not moving to England.

The 32-year-old was linked with swapping Sassuolo for Leeds as the clock ticked down on the final day of the winter transfer window, but ultimately he joined Chievo Verona.

Floro Flores was keen to remain within Italy, his agent claims, which led to a switch to Chievo Verona.

Asked about Leeds by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the striker's agent Mario Fogliamanzillo, replied: "It was an idea [for him to go to Leeds].

"But the boy preferred to remain in Italy", he added.
