Simone Zaza's agent has denied that his client was close to joining Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window and insists the striker is currently at one of Europe's biggest clubs.

The Selhurst Park outfit were continually linked with the Juventus hitman throughout the winter window and it was suggested he was closing on a move to England with Alan Pardew's men.

But Zaza, who was also linked with several other clubs including West Ham United, ended up remaining at Juventus as the window closed.

Asked about Zaza being close to joining Crystal Palace by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, agent Christian Maifredi said: "When a striker does well, it is obvious that he is sought after, but currently he is at the best team in Italy and one of the most important in Europe.

"It is a great place to be and he wants to finish the season in the best way", the agent continued.

"Crystal Palace? It is not totally true, but there were some important expressions of esteem in the player."

Zaza, 24, has so far made a total of 14 appearances in all competitions for Juventus this season, scoring six goals in the process.

He has though not started a match in Serie A for the Turin giants since October, a clash with Inter.

Zaza, who will want to featured more regularly in the coming months, is under contract with Juventus until 2020.
