Jiangsu Suning new boy Alex Teixeira has revealed that he did not receive any concrete offer from the Premier League and therefore decided to move to China when the opportunity came.

The Brazilian, who was reportedly the subject of a bid from Liverpool last month, was snapped up by the Chinese outfit for a stunning €50m, breaking the Asian transfer record.

The Reds were also keen on having the in-form midfielder among their ranks and had reportedly tabled a £24.5m bid for Teixeira which was eventually turned down by Shakhtar Donetsk, thus paving way for his move to China.

The outgoing midfielder in an interview with his club's official website indicated that Liverpool's offer was "windy" and there was nothing "concrete" in it.

"Let's put it like this: everyone always knew that I wanted to stay in Europe and move to the English Premier League club", Teixeira told Shakhtar Donetsk's official website.

"But, unfortunately, all the proposals that came from them, were somewhat windy and did not contain anything concrete.

"Now I have received a serious offer from China. Of course, I’m moving there."

The player is well aware of the fact that signing for a Chinese club will mean that he will move away from being considered for the Brazilian national team. But he will play a waiting and watching game and concentrate on giving his best for his new side.

"At this stage, the Brazil national team will move away from me a little further. But let's see what happens in the future!"
