Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud feels that his side should certainly keep an eye on youngster Benik Afobe, who he believes has developed the quality to play at the top level.

The 22-year-old is a product of Arsenal's youth academy having joined them as a youngster in 2001. The striker was promoted to senior level in 2010, but failed to cement his place in the Arsenal team.

The striker was eventually sold to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2015, playing for them over the course of the entire year before being snapped up by Bournemouth for a record fee this January.

Afobe's signing has in fact proved to be a risk worth taking as the young striker has already managed three goals in four matches for his new side.

Giroud, who shares a similar success story, insists that the player has a lot of potential and is already starting to live up to them. It would therefore be a good thing, according to the Frenchman, to keep an eye on their former player.

“You need to get more experience and more time on the pitch, it’s very important when you are younger to improve yourself", Giroud told his club's official website, while speaking about Afobe.

"Benik has done that in the past and now he is ready to play in the Premier League. He’s showing that he’s got the quality to score goals, so it’s nice for him.

“Since he’s joined Bournemouth, he’s scored in almost all of the games that he’s played so he’s a big threat. We need to keep an eye on him, definitely.”
