Leeds United manager Steve Evans admits that Watford are going to be tough opponents in the FA Cup, but he is more interested in dealing with league fixtures before their trip to Vicarage Road.

A fortnight later the Whites will travel to Hertfordshire to take on Quique Sanches Flores’ impressive Watford team in the fifth round of the FA Cup and Evans admits that the Hornets have been very good in the Premier League this season.

He admits that Watford have improved a late since earning promotion to the Premier League and is especially impressed with players such as Troy Deeney, who has seamlessly adapted to top tier football.

However, the Leeds boss is not looking too far ahead and wants his side to negotiate their next two league fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Championship high flyers Middlesbrough before they think about tackling Watford.

The Leeds boss said in a press conference: “I watched them last night [Wednesday night], and they gave Chelsea a bit of a battering for 60 minutes.

“It was over the hour mark before Chelsea had a shot on target. Watford could have been three or four up – they are a much better team than when they were in the Championship, with much better players.

“They have got players like Troy Deeney, who have taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.

“Very impressed with Watford, but we have league matches before them; we have to deal with a Nottingham Forest side who are in good form and also deal with a Middlesbrough side who are already a good team without the multi-millions that they just spent.”

Evans’ side are currently 15th in the Championship on 36 points and are looking forward to a strong latter half of the season for an improbable playoff push.
