Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino feels that Kevin Wimmer looked like someone who had been at White Hart Lane for a number of years with the performance he produced in a 3-0 win away at Norwich City in midweek.

Wimmer arrived at Spurs in the summer from Bundesliga club 1.FC Koln, but has had to bide his time for an opportunity due to the solid central defensive partnership forged by Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

But an injury to Vertonghen has given Wimmer a chance and Pochettino was impressed with the way the Austrian slotted into the Spurs' backline.

Indeed, the Spurs boss feels Wimmer looked at home and as if he has been at the club for several years.

"This is how we try to work", Pochettino told Spurs TV, when asked about every player feeling part of the team.

"For the player, sometimes it’s tough to wait for an opportunity but Kevin is a very good example.

"He played like a player who has been here for a long time. This is important for the squad to able to trust in every player", he added.

So far this season Wimmer has made eight appearances in all competitions for Spurs, appearing across the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and the Europa League.

The 23-year-old will look to kick on over the coming weeks to grab his chance with both hands.
