Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has provided an update on his squad's fitness ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League meeting with Watford.

The Argentine explained that the club will continue to assess Ryan Mason, with the midfielder closing in on returning to action.

Mason rejoined training this week with the rest of the squad after spending two months on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

And Pochettino, who insisted that Mason is close to returning to action, is however, unwilling to take any risks with the 24-year-old.

"We continue to assess him every day", he told the club’s official site.

"He’s close to coming back to the team. We have another training session tomorrow and we’ll wait to see if he’s in a good way."

Tottenham, who are currently third in the Premier League with 45 points from 24 games, five adrift of leaders Leicester City, will be without the services of Jan Vertonghen and Clinton Njie through knee injuries against Watford.

Spurs have been in a rich vein of form lately, with the north London outfit winning their last five games in all competitions, scoring 16 times and conceding just three goals.
