Rangers striker Kenny Miller has welcomed the competition for places in the Gers squad with the addition of three attacking players in the recently concluded winter transfer window.

Miller has been a mainstay in Mark Warburton’s side this season, and despite being on the wrong side of the 30s, he has managed 20 appearances for the Gers, chipping in with 12 goals and seven assists.

The Ibrox side have reinforced their squad with attacking players, namely Harry Forrester, Billy King and Michael O’Halloran, over the course of the January window in a bid to ensure promotion to the Scottish top flight this season.

Miller accepts that the squad before the transfer window was slightly short, but the signings have helped beef it up.

The 36-year-old feels every player welcomes competition as long as their place in the side is not in danger.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Miller said: “Well, I think the fact that goes without saying is that competition means you look at the players who can play in the formation that we play.

“A lot of lads, maybe six or seven lads can play in any one of these positions along the front line so I think that’s healthy competition.

"When you look at the squad, it was a little bit light, but with these four signings that we have made over the course of January it definitely beefs the squad up a little bit and listen, any player welcomes competition, as long as they know their place won’t get taken.”
