Tottenham Hotspur match winner Kieran Trippier believes midfielder Dele Alli changed the course of the game against Watford today.

With their current run of form, Tottenham were massive favourites going into the game, but Watford held their fort well in the first half and kept the home side to just a few clear cut chances, despite Spurs seeing most of the ball before the break.

Pochettino’s men came out with renewed vigour in the second half and finally got the breakthrough when Trippier’s right footed shot nestled into bottom left corner, after Alli played a wonderful ball into the box. Spurs remained the more dominant force even after taking the lead, and continued to search for the second goal, but it never came.

Watford did put some late pressure on Tottenham’s defence towards the end of the match, but it was too little too late as Spurs came out as narrow but deserving winners at White Hart Lane.

The full-back admits that his job was not to score the winning goal, but he was happy to get the winner as it was a massive three points, in terms of the title race.

The full-back told the BBC: "I don't see myself up there much but I am glad to go get the goal. You see the results today so it is a massive win for us."

Talking about the Alli assist, Trippier said: "Everyone knows Dele's ability and he changed the game."

With Manchester City losing to Leicester City and Arsenal not playing until tomorrow, Tottenham moved up to second in the league table with the win today.
