Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has asked Steve Evans to shrug off his transfer window disappointment and concentrate on putting together a run of form in the latter half of the season.

While the Whites tried to get a few deals over the line on deadline day, they failed to add any more new names and Mustapha Carayol and Toumani Diagouraga remained their only two signings of the January window.

Evans has insisted that it was always going to be difficult to do business during the January window and the club were not prepared to pay over the odds, but Gray feels the Leeds boss must be a little disappointed that he failed to adequately replenish the squad.

However, he stressed that the Scot and his team must concentrate on the season ahead and try to put together a run of results, as it is impossible to know where a good spell of form can take a team.

The Leeds legend said on LUTV while previewing today's game against Nottingham Forest: “Steve will be a little bit disappointed that they have not added to the squad, but you understand the club’s point of view.

“To make a big investment at this stage, when you are below mid-table, you are taking a big chance to get into the top six.

“Steve, his coaches and the players still need to go on this season, and I said many times before if you can put a run of four or five games together, you are not going to be that far away [from the top six].”

Leeds slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest earlier today which all but ends their top six hopes.
