Leeds United boss Steve Evans admits that his side lacked the special player up front who could finish off the few chances they created against Nottingham Forest.

The Whites dominated the ball at Anfield, but the visitors are the ones who created more of the chances and Nelson Oliveira converted one of them at the hour mark to earn all three points for Forest.

Dougie Freedman’s side extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to 13 games and in all probability ended Leeds flickering ideas of finishing in the top six of the league this season, thus ending their promotion hopes.

Evans is adamant that his side dominated proceedings against Forest, but admits that his side just didn’t create enough chances to hurt the visitors. He also feels in the absence of Chris Wood they are missing a special player up front who can finish off some of the opportunities they created.

"I have no doubt we've dominated the ball and dominated the play", Evans told BBC Radio Leeds.

"It was like watching paint dry, but I'd rather be watching my team winning. Our creativity, on another day, could have been much better.

"I think we had a good tempo in stages, but we found it difficult, especially in the last ten minutes, to get through them. That's when you need a special player and with Chris out, we're limited with what we've got.

"If you can show me where they are, we would love to put them in. At the end, we were putting lads on that we knew weren't ready for the pitch."

The loss means Leeds dropped down to 16th in the league table, and their next fixture is a home game against Championship high flyers Middlesbrough in a week from Monday.
