Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino admits that his team need to keep their calm and take one game at a time as they approach the final few months of the season.

Another win over Watford at White Hart Lane earlier today took Spurs up to second in the league table behind Leicester City, and above clubs such as Manchester City and arch-rivals Arsenal, who play tomorrow.

Tottenham are one of the top contenders at the moment to finish in the Champions League spots, but many feel it should not be the limit of their ambition, as they are also being touted as genuine title challengers.

Pochettino is proud of his players’ performances this season, but admits that as a young team they need to keep their calm and stressed the importance of taking one game at a time, rather than looking too far ahead.

The Tottenham boss also feels there is still a lot of scope for improvement for his squad, but insisted that he has a clear idea of how he want to take his young and exciting Tottenham team forward.

The Argentine told the BBC: "I feel very proud of the players.

"We need to be calm. We are in a very good position in the league but the philosophy from the beginning of the season has been to go step by step. We are a very young squad so it is important to keep going and take every game and competition and be ready to compete.

"We need to be careful and always work in the same way. In football you can never stop. You always need to improve and fix a different situation. We still need to be more clinical, we created a lot of chances today but need to score more.

"We have a good idea of how we want to build the squad for the future and it is important to take this philosophy and deliver it."
