Jesse Lingard admits that Manchester United conceding late on to Chelsea to draw 1-1 makes the result feel like a defeat, even though he is happy with how the Red Devils are playing, while he also reflected on the superb goal he scored.

Both sides largely spent the first half cancelling each other out, but Chelsea had a penalty appeal waved away on the stroke of half time, with the Blues appealing for a Daley Blind handball.

Chelsea brought Eden Hazard on soon in the second half, but lost Kurt Zouma to injury in the 55th minute, the defender appearing to twist his knee after jumping high and landing awkwardly.

On the hour mark, Manchester United went ahead, with Lingard producing a moment of brilliance to make space and find the top corner. He turned quickly and kept his shot on target despite losing his balance.

Chelsea searched for an equaliser, but had to wait until injury time to get it when Diego Costa stroked the ball into the back of the net.

It ended 1-1 and Lingard admits that for the visitors conceding late on feels like a defeat.

He said on Sky Sports: "We played the majority of the game well. To concede late on it is like a defeat, but we have to move on to the next game.

"We are playing a lot better now. As a collective group we are doing well."

Lingard also explained that his superb strike came about purely through instinct.

"It was just instinct to turn and hit it and I'm just glad it went in", he added.
