Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ben Davies has expressed his delight with the win against Watford on Saturday, but insists that the focus now has to shift to the next big one against Manchester City.

Right-back Kieran Trippier contributed with his first Spurs goal as his side beat Watford 1-0 at White Hart Lane on Saturday to move to second in the table.

However, Davies feels that there is no time to dwell on the win as they now have to concentrate on their next match which will be against title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

“Now we focus on the next one", Davies told his club's official website.

Davies also voiced his delight at having seen his fellow defender Trippier contributing with the goal, insisting that with the competition for places being stiff in the team one has to take his chances whenever they come and the 25-year-old did well to have grabbed the opportunity so well.

“I’m delighted for Kieran”, Davies, who himself came close to scoring while on a raid down the left flank, told his club's official website.

“We got forward a lot throughout, he had a great game and a goal was no less than he deserved.

“The competition is high and when you get the chance to pull the shirt on, whoever it is, you have to show why you’ve been selected.

“We all work hard together, we support each other whatever happens and the performances we’re putting in show that.

“Before the game as a back four we always have a chat and we always say if we do our jobs and keep a clean sheet we’ve got enough going forward to get a goal.

"This time a defender turned up with the goal and it was great to see Kieran get off the mark."
