Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney believes that there are a lot of positives to take from the Chelsea game as his side hope to return to winning ways against Sunderland.

The Red Devils were forced to endure a frustrating draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday as striker Diego Costa scored an injury time goal to dash their hopes of registering back-to-back victories in the Premier League.

The striker was not dissatisfied with the performance that his team managed to put in away from home, insisting that the performance was a reflection of the good work they have been putting in over the last few matches.

However, the 30-year-old was quick to admit the fact that at this stage of the season it is results that matter and the fact that they dropped two points was certainly a setback.

"Overall, it was a good performance and we played some nice stuff, as we have done in the last few games", Rooney told his club's official website.

"But, at this stage of the season, it’s results that matter and it was very disappointing to drop two points.

"The players are down at the minute after conceding late on, but we need to lift ourselves for next weekend now."

Louis van Gaal's side are set to visit Sunderland next as they hope to return to winning ways and keep the pressure on the top four.

"We know there are positives to take from the performance. We’ll try to take them into the game on Saturday [at Sunderland]."
