Manchester United starlet Anthony Martial has revealed that Red Devils’ legend Patrice Evra urged him to join the ‘Club of Champions’.

The 20-year-old striker joined the Old Trafford outfit from AS Monaco on deadline day in the summer for £36m, though the fee could increase dependent upon his performances for the Red Devils.




Martial has been an ever present in Louis van Gaal’s side, making 30 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring ten goals.

Evra spent a hugely successful eight-and-a-half years at Old Trafford following his switch from Monaco in the January of 2006.
 


The French left-back lifted five English Premier League titles along with three League Cups, and one Champions League among other honours.

Martial like Evra moved to Old Trafford from Monaco, and the 20-year-old has revealed that he consulted the former Red Devils left-back before making the switch.

According to Martial, the 34-year-old urged him to join the Old Trafford outfit and explained that the club always want to win, something that the 20-year-old insists he has felt since his arrival.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, Martial said: “Patrice Evra told me it was a ‘club of champions’, a club that above all else wants to win, and certainly since I arrived here I’ve felt that for myself too.”

Van Gaal’s side currently sit in fifth position in the league table and are six points off fourth placed Manchester City.
