Rangers Under-20 boss Ian Durrant feels new signing Mekhi McLeod possesses the qualities to keep the supporters on the edge of their seats.

The 19-year-old revealed earlier in the month that he had signed for Rangers on deadline day, with the youngster sealing his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

McLeod made his Rangers Under-20 debut in the 2-1 loss to Falkirk in the Developmental League yesterday.

It was the winger’s first outing in two months, and Durrant insisted that he was pleased with what he saw from Rangers' latest young star.

And the manager, who explained that McLeod is a speedy player with an eye for goal, stated that Rangers want to boost the starlet’s fitness as the club are keen to use him heavilly in the upcoming games.

“Mekhi hasn’t had a game for two months and he showed what he is about tonight, he has blistering pace and is a handful”, Durrant told the club’s official site.

“We need to get him as fit as we can and we have a lot of games coming up so you’ll see a lot of him.

“He’ll get you on the edge of your seats because he is absolutely electric and he can score a goal as well.”

McLeod, who is yet to make a first team appearance in his career, caught the attention of Rangers’ coaching staff during a trial at Ibrox last month.

He is a product of Fulham’s youth system, with the teenager joining Wolves from the Cottagers 18 months ago.
