Harry Forrester feels the current Rangers squad are capable of competing in the top tier of Scottish football.

The Gers, who played out a goalless draw with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup at the weekend, are en route to returning to the Scottish Premiership.

Mark Warburton’s team are currently eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship table, albeit having played a game more than second-placed Hibernian.

The meeting with Kilmarnock was the second time Rangers had been up against a Premiership outfit in the present campaign, with the previous instance being a 3-1 loss to St Johnstone in the League Cup in September.

And Forrester, who joined Rangers on an initial six-month deal from Doncaster Rovers during the January transfer window, thinks his new employers are good enough to compete in the Premiership with their current squad.

“I think the club is a Premiership standard club, there is no doubt about that”, the winger told Rangers TV.

“We believe the squad we've got can compete at that level.”

Rangers will next face Alloa Athletic in a league fixture at the Indodrill Stadium on Saturday.
