Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has called on the Whites to show courage while playing at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire giants lost 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest at the weekend, which further pegged back the club's hopes of finishing in the playoff spots.

Although it was Leeds’ first defeat in six games in all competitions at Elland Road, Steve Evans’ team have not been consistent at the venue.

And Gray wants Leeds show extra confidence and courage during their outings at Elland Road, especially against beatable opponents.

“We seem to get a little bit nervous [at Elland Road]”, he said on LUTV, assessing the Forest game.

“We don’t try as much as we try away from home. I don’t mean physically trying, you know try and do things.

“You’ve got to show that extra bit of courage when you are at home, especially when you are playing against sides people expect you to beat.

“I’m not saying everybody expected us to beat Forest; but after the Bolton game, the bar was raised, and now the bar is back on the deck again.

“I think that’s the thing about playing at home, away from home we look okay, we look confident. Here at Elland Road it’s a little bit difficult.”

Leeds, who lost four consecutive Championship games at Elland Road between mid-September and the end of October, currently find themselves 16th in the league standings with 36 points from 30 games, 14 adrift of sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites are next up against second-placed Middlesbrough at Elland Road on Monday, with the corresponding fixture resulting in a 3-0 win for Boro in September.
