Mark Noble feels that his West Ham side beat a strong Liverpool team tonight in the FA Cup, as they ran out 2-1 winners after extra time, despite Jurgen Klopp throwing a number of young players into his side once again.

It looked an entertaining contest from the outset with both sides enjoying good passages of play, which saw a shot from Philippe Coutinho hit the post and a fine free-kick from Dimitri Payet palmed onto the post.

West Ham pulled ahead on the stroke of half time when Enner Valencia found an unmarked Michail Antonio at the far post, who guided his shot past Simon Mignolet courtesy of a fine finish.

But Liverpool were level three minutes after the start of the second half when Coutinho hit a free-kick under the jumping West Ham wall and into the corner of the net.

Coutinho was in good form throughout, providing Liverpool with a real positive.

No further goals arrived and the game headed into extra time, where West Ham came up with a winner at the very end when Payet picked out Angelo Ogbonna, whose header made it 2-1. Lucas Leiva had given away the free-kick and Payet found the Italian with a great ball.

West Ham had won and Noble was delighted, admitting he was already thinking about penalties.

And the Hammers skipper feels Liverpool produced a good performance.

"I was thinking 'where am I going to stick my penalty?' and then Angelo saved us all from the heartache of penalties", Noble was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"That was a strong Liverpool team there. Tonight we matched them", he added.
