Former Celtic midfielder Lubo Moravcik thinks it is the club’s duty to defeat Greenock Morton in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup next month.

The Hoops, whose hope of winning the domestic treble was shattered after losing 3-1 to Ross County in the League Cup semi-final last week, defeated East Kilbride 2-0 in the previous round of the Scottish Cup.

Goals from Leigh Griffiths and new signing Colin Kazim-Richards helped Celtic to set up a quarter-final meeting with the Scottish Championship outfit.

And Moravcik, who played for Celtic between 1998 and 2002, insisted that his former team are the favourites to progress to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

The Slovakian however, feels it will not be an easy contest at Celtic Park as the 50-year-old went on to add how during his time Celtic went on to lose a cup game at home against minnows Inverness.

“Stay extra focused during playing smaller club? No, just play with concentration”, he said on Celtic TV.

“I remember we lost 3-1 against Inverness at home; it’s never easy, football is never easy.

“But Celtic are favourites, and it’s a duty for Celtic to win the game.”

Celtic, who are currently top of the Scottish Premiership table, will next face Ross County on Saturday.
