On loan Celtic youngster Stuart Findlay believes he is improving as a footballer because of his stint at Kilmarnock, which has allowed him to play regular football at the top level this season.

Schooled at Celtic’s youth academy, the defender was allowed to join Kilmarnock last summer on a season-long loan deal and the 20-year-old is enjoying his stint at Rugby Park.

He has revealed that he has been in regular tough with Celtic's youth coaches to take stock of the development that he has been making at Kilmarnock and is aware that his parent club are keeping a close watch on his progress with the Scottish Premiership side.

“I speak to head of youth Chris McCart quite regularly”, the 20-year-old defender told the Scottish Herald.

“He’s always making sure I’m up to date, working on my strengths and weaknesses as he asked me to do when I went to Kilmarnock.

"From what I hear they’ve always got a coach or scout at our games to make sure I’m doing what they want.”

He has already made 16 league appearances for Kilmarnock this season, and the defender is convinced that he is constantly improving because of the regular football he is getting to play with seasoned professionals at Rugby Park.

Findlay feels his stint with Killie has helped him to become stronger and tougher, both mentally and physically.

“I feel my game has improved and that I’ve become more streetwise.

"I’m playing against older players who have been around the block a little bit. There are guys who have played hundreds of games so that’s a lot different from youth football.

“I feel that’s going to help me improve having to deal with players who want to knock you off the ball. You have to be stronger and tougher.”
