Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday has credited the 50,000 plus Ibrox crowd for giving the team an extra boost in the last 20 minutes of games and is confident that the travelling fans will help them in their next three fixtures, which are all away from home.

The Ibrox outfit currently sit at the top of the Scottish Championship, eight points ahead of second placed Hibernian, albeit having played a game more.

The Gers were restricted to a 0-0 draw at home against Kilmarnock in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup at the weekend, the first game in which Mark Warburton’s side failed to score this season, and they will now have to contest the replay at Rugby Park on 16th February.

Rangers have three consecutive away fixtures against Alloa Athletic, Kilmarnock and Queen of the South and Halliday feels that the support of the travelling fans will be instrumental in helping Warburton’s side secure victories in all three games.

The 24-year-old believes that the fans at Ibrox also make life difficult for the away side.

Speaking in an interview with Rangers TV, Halliday said: “Those 50,000 they always give you that extra boost and trust me it doesn’t help the other team either.

“So it just gives you the extra kick for the last 20 minutes and hopefully we will take that next week, I have got no doubts about the amount of travelling numbers we will take.”

Warburton’s side will be hoping to secure a win against relegation threatened Alloa Athletic at Recreation Park Alloa on Saturday to maintain their eight-point lead at the top of the table.
