AC Milan striker M'Baye Niang has insisted that he has no regrets over rejecting Leicester City’s approach last month as staying at the San Siro was always the right thing to do.

The Premier League leaders were keen to take the young forward to England during the January transfer, and even slapped in a bid for him to lure Niang away from the Rossoneri.

But both the Milanese giants and the forward decided to reject the Foxes’ advances and chose to continue their association despite a lucrative €16m bid from Leicester.

Leicester are currently leading the Premier League table, and have become surprising favourites to lift the title at the end of the season, but the 21-year-old striker has no regrets over rejecting them last month.

He stressed that staying at the Rossoneri was always the right career choice and admits that he at least wants to finish the season at the San Siro.

The striker told Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport: “Staying at Milan was the right choice.

“Some thought I was ready to sign for Leicester but I never thought about leaving.

“My head has always been in Milan, that’s what I told [vice-president Adriano] Galliani and the coach [Sinisa Mihajlovic]. This is the team I want to finish the season with.”

Niang joined AC Milan from SM Caen and has scored eight goals in 17 appearances for the club this season.

He has a contract until 2019 with the Rossoneri.
