Leeds United have a point to prove against Middlesbrough on Monday evening, head coach Steve Evans believes, insisting that the last time the two sides met the Whites could have lost 7-0.

Under Uwe Rosler, Leeds suffered a 3-0 defeat away at Middlesbrough, being put to the sword by the promotion contenders in what was a poor afternoon for the Whites.

Rosler bemoaned poor refereeing for his side going down to defeat, but Evans after assessing the footage of the match thinks Leeds were clearly second best and were lucky to escape without being on the end of a hiding.

And so, the Whites will be looking to set the record straight on Monday, the head coach insists.

"I've looked back at some of the footage from previous games", Evans told LUTV.

"We've got a little point to prove from earlier in the season as well. That was not just 3-0, that could have been 3-0, going on five, six seven.

"I think Leeds fans that day know it. They will have been hurting driving back from Middlesbrough that day.

"So Middlesbrough will bring a sell-out support from their point of view, there will be a good Elland Road presence from the Leeds United faithful as there always is."

And Evans issued a rallying cry ahead of Boro's visit to Elland Road, calling on all concerned to make sure the evening is a famous one for the Whites.

"Let's just get it right on and off the pitch, have one of those evenings that everyone is proud to be a white. "
