Stoke City have announced that in-demand Bojan Krkic has put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep him at the Britannia Stadium until the summer of 2020.

Bojan has been in fine form for the Potters in the current campaign and as a result has been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool amid talk that he could have a buy-out clause in his deal.

But Stoke have signalled that they are intent on keeping the former Barcelona player by convincing him to pen a new contract.

And Bojan claims he is happy to have committed his future to the Potters, feeling that he owes a debt of gratitude to the club and manager Mark Hughes, who brought him to the Premier League.

The Spain international told his club's official website: "I am very happy and motivated. Stoke City gave me the opportunity to play in the most competitive league in the world, the Premier League, and I have only words of gratitude for their trust and for the way they have treated me since the first day I arrived to England.

"Mark Hughes convinced me to come to Stoke, he has helped me and showed his trust in me from the beginning, he followed closely the recovery process from my injury and there is no doubt I have signed an extension of my contract thanks to him."

Stoke will hope that Bojan signing a new deal wards off interest from other clubs and convince them to look elsewhere in the summer transfer window.

The Potters snapped Bojan up from Barcelona in 2014 and he quickly made his mark at the Britannia Stadium, though his progress was disrupted by a knee injury.

He has again been a key man for the club this term.
