Real Betis sporting director Eduardo Macia is of the opinion that former Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid star Rafael van der Vaart does not have a future at the club.

The Dutchman, who played for Spurs between 2010 and 2012, has failed to make an impact at Real Betis since joining the club from Hamburg in the summer.

Van der Vaart is yet to score for his new employers, with the attacking midfielder clocking up just 298 minutes over nine games in all competitions for the newly promoted La Liga outfit.

And although the 33-year-old’s present contract with Real Betis runs until 2017, Macia hinted that the club are not keen to keep Van der Vaart.

"It just did not work", he was quoted as saying by German magazine Sport Bild.
